Autumn is the ideal season to visit The Hoge Veluwe National Park, home to the famous Kroller-Muller Museum, while it is clothed in autumnal reds and golds. Also to discover the many museums on offer, or to warm up in one of the welcoming brown cafes.
TIP OF THE MONTH
CHRISTMAS MARKET IN THE VELVET CAVE AT VALKENBERG CASTLE FRIDAY NOVEMBER 19th until TUESDAY DECEMBER 21st 2004
The ‘Fluweelengrot’ (Velvet Cave) yearly makes up the set for a unique event, ‘the Christmas Market Fluweelengrot’.
Visitors from all over the world and of all ages are welcome!
The Christmas Market Fluweelengrot (Velvet Cave) this year concerns a Christmas event in settings of the new theme "Christmas around the World". Striking is the romantic and fairy-tale translation of the theme into decoration, stories and scene of the market.
Twinkling lights and magic illumination that reflect the soft marlstone walls break through the rustic darkness of the cave. Gentle Christmas music breaks through the (normally) every day serene silence. A tour of capricious passages will lead you past caverns, decorated ‘gnomy scenes’, stalls with various quality (Christmas) items for sale, and a few stalls that demonstrate old Dutch trade & (handi)craft. Don’t forget to visit our enchanting catering garden in the ‘heart’ of the cave, to have a bite to eat and experience our famous Dutch Christmas drink ‘Glühwein’ (sparkling hot wine)...

CADANCE – 30 Oct to 13 November in various locations
This fall, The Hague is hosting the 12th edition of the CaDance festival – a contemporary dance event organized every two years by the Korzo theater and the Theater aan het Spui. Over a two-week period, this fabulous dance adventure will unfold in various theaters in The Hague. Daring and innovative, CaDance presents new work by both up-and-coming and established choreographers from the Netherlands, while also turning the spotlight on new dance trends.
With regard to emerging trends, this year CaDance will center on MOVING MOTIVES in dance & society. Today’s world is in turmoil, facing economic malaise, problems relating to immigration and integration, increased violence and aggression, as well as the growing forces of globalization. These and other developments are having a strong impact on the lives of ordinary people. What is the role of dance as an art form in all of this? To what extent are dance professionals getting involved in present?day social issues? Are they conveying a particular message or pursuing an agenda? MOVING MOTIVES explores the motivation of choreographers and dancers as they reach out to and seek to move the audience through dance.
